In the heart of Mount Maunganui, a remarkable transformation has taken place turning an overlooked beachfront property into an award-winning masterpiece. The 2024 ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards recognised this stunning renovation as the only renovation project to win an award in the Bay of Plenty.

A Visionary Renovation
The home, set against the scenic backdrop of Hopukiore, also known as Mount Drury, was once considered for demolition but instead underwent a significant renovation led by Jon McAlpine from TG Architectural Studio. The goal was to create a space that created a relaxed beach vibe but also catered to the needs of a large extended family, ensuring practicality and environmental consciousness.
Before and After: A Striking Contrast
The before and after images are incredible. The original house, unsuitable for the family's needs, has been transformed into an architecturally designed masterpiece. The exterior now boasts additions and alterations that seamlessly blend with the natural beauty of Mount Maunganui.
The home's painted structural elements are exposed, creating an airy, summery interior that invites relaxation and comfort.
