FAQs

Is cork flooring environmentally responsible?

The wonderful thing about all our Cork and CorkWood ranges by Torlys is that the cork bark is harvested from living trees, so they can continue to grow and grow more cork bark ready to harvest again in 9 years.  The cork that goes into these ranges is FSC® Certified and then the top flooring coat is finished with a strong and durable environmentally-friendly water-based urethane.

Torlys are dedicated to providing your family with a comfortable and hygienic flooring solution. Cork products meet the Californian Section 01350 requirements, one of the most stringent indoor air quality standards in the world.

Can cork flooring be installed in kitchens and bathrooms?

With the 2021 building code for E3/AS1 rules for wet and splash areas, your floor must meet specific criteria in bathrooms and kitchens to pass consent.

If you are looking for cork flooring for kitchens and bathrooms, we have select cork ranges that meets this criteria and we can provide you with all the documentation you need to support any consent applications for your new home or renovation project.

Can cork flooring be laid over tiles?

Our cork flooring is a floating floor and can be laid over existing vinyl, concrete, chipboard, ply, tiles - or any flat and dry subfloor. This makes cork flooring an ideal solution for home renovation improvements as well as new homes.

Is your cork flooring the same as traditional cork tiles?

No, it's not the same as traditional cork tiles. We offer engineered cork flooring, which is pre-finished and ready to walk on as soon as it's installed. Our cork flooring comes in designer textures and colours to add a unique look to your interior space, while planks are warm and comfortable to stand or walk on.
